My First Work Day

"Hello and welcome 7-Eleven", is what came out of my mouth about 500 times today. wow I never realized how busy a 7-eleven could be. the sevenelevn i work at is the Kahaluu location if you want to google it. all in all it went pretty good, lots of customers and not too many mistakes, and most importantly... a laid back, steady job. as for right now im headed up to pipeline to do some body surfing in some 9 footers woot!

MY NEW PLACE

Hey everybody I just wanted to jump on and tell you all i moved into my new place! I'm living in Kahuku, a small town on the north eastern shore about 15 minutes from pipeline beach. My roomates are 2 guys who i presume are gay but not together, who knows cause im not asking. they have a huge dog which kinda looks like a doberman pincer but i think its too big to be on, who knows. I think i left my camera charger in Utah so i wont be able to post pictures for a while. I went swimming for the first time 2 days ago, yeah yeah i know its unbelieveable that ive been here for a month and 2 days ago was my first swim but i wanted to stay on task until i had a place to stay and a job. more updates soon

"we could use a little more color up here"

If you're confused by the title of this post well so was i when the manager at Turtle Bay spoke it to me. I gave him a weird look and he said "not to sound racist but with all the hawaiians working up here it might be good to get a couple Haoles working here too". the guys was hawaiian himself so i just kinda laughed and he said he'd call me.

I just thought i should start posting before i start forgetting whats happened so far in hawaii. The weather is wonderful, 80 degrees every day. There's always a light breeze so even though its crazy humid, its wonderful. Not as much mean spirited Raceism like a few people warned me but its deffinately there. The job search is horrible though, in Honolulu everybody wants you to speak japanese, in Laie getting a job is impossible if you're not a BYU student and everywhere else they want you to be Hawaiian.

I'm not discouraged at all though, i knew it would be hard so I'll just keep at it full steam ahead.
